Postpone scheduled NEET-JEE examinations: Raqeeq Ahmed Khan
JKAP leader Raqeeq Khan has demanded postponement of NEET and JEE examination in present covid-19 situation.
In a statement to the press he said the Government should take a final call on the postponement of the NEET-JEE examinations in Jammu and Kashmir which is passing through a touch situation.
“It is not possible for the students to appear in the examinations when there is no transport facility.
it is very difficult for the students living in rural areas will also not be able to appear in the examination,” leader said.
Khan appealed the Govt. to review their order in the interest of the students’ and postpone the neet jee exams community. “At a time, when country is being advised to not assemble at a place to avoid covid spread, the Government’s decision has led to the mental stress among the students,” he said citing depressed calls he was receiving from the students.
He suggested that the examination dates should be announced when the covid situation improves in Jammu and Kashmir.
At national level, he said, the students are not in favour of the scheduled examination with a fear that the lives of the students will be put to risk by holding examinations.
He said that the social media is also abuzz with the demand to defer the examinations. “Some students live in containment Covid 19 zones, some live in far-off areas and it would not be able for them to appear in the examination.
Unlock 4 | Schools may not reopen anytime soon' Unlock 4
The government can allow resumption of Metro train services in the ‘Unlock 4’ phase beginning 1st September, but schools may not reopen anytime soon in upcommimg days, officials sources said on Monday.
The officials said there is no possibility of reopening of schools and immediately in upcommimg days, but deliberations are underway on whether to allow reopening of higher educational schools such as universities, IITs and IIMs. No decision has been taken till now on the matter yet, the officials added. Also currently it has been said by an source there is not any possibility of allowing cinema halls to reopen from September 1st as it will not be commercially viable for film-makers or cinema hall owners to operate following social distancing norms, another official said. The state governments will take a final call on additional activities that should continue to remain prohibited during the ‘Unlock 4’, in the respective states the official said.

J&K Reports 546 New Covid-19 Cases, Srinagar Tally Crosses 9000 Mark
88 Travelers, 12 Minors Among Infected, 648 Covid-19 Patients Discharged
Srinagar, August 29 (GNS): The Jammu and Kashmir reported 546 new cases of novel coronavirus including 88 travelers, several security personnel besides six minors and two pregnant women,
taking the overall case tally to 36377.
Official sources told GNS that among the cases, 332 were reported from Kashmir Valley and 214 from Jammu division.
Giving district wise breakup of the cases, they said Srinagar reported 102, taking its total count to 9025 while Baramulla reported 18, Pulwama 105, Budgam 36, Anantnag22, Bandipora 49, Kupwara 31, Kulgam 12, Shopian 12 and Ganderbal 28.
Similarly, they said, Jammu district reported 134 new cases, Rajouri 9, Kathua 19, Udhampur 18, Samba 8, Ramban 1, Doda 10, Poonch 11, Reasi 4 while no case was reported in Kishtwar.
A number of these cases were detected at SKIMS and CD hospital labouratories, they said.
