New Delhi, April 19,In the wake of the unabated resurgence of new Covid-19 cases in the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday declared a six-day lockdown starting from 10 p.m. tonight till 6 a.m. on April 26.

Authorities have imposed a complete weeklong curfew in New Delhi from tonight till next Monday morning in view of a surge in COVID-19 infections.
As per an order issued by Chief Secretary New Delhi, Vijay Dev, the curfew will be effective from 10 pm tonight till 5 am next Monday morning.
It said the curfew had been necessitated in view of a sharp increase in the virus infections and the high positivity rate over the last few days.
However, officials and individuals associated with emergency services and expecting mothers, patients, media persons, students appearing in exams have been exempted from the restrictions.
It is pertinent to mention here that night and weekend curfews are already in place in the national capital.

States to decide lockdown: Amit Shah
Upon being asked whether there may be a nationwide lockdown like 2020, the home minister said: "We had three months ago allowed states to decide their own curbs. Now such measures will have to be taken at the states' level as the situation is different in different states. It is better for states to decide their own restrictions.".
